Villa Puri

History

The Puri family have held land at Bolsena, on the volcanic shores of the lake in northern Lazio, since the mid-fifteenth century — a Domenico Puro is recorded there around 1500 as a provost and notary with a vineyard. Modern wine production began in 1970 with new plantings, and the first bottlings followed in 1987.

Led by the agronomist Vittorio Puri, the estate specialises in the whites of the Lake Bolsena hills, above all the Est! Est!! Est!!! di Montefiascone, alongside more unusual bottlings such as the late-harvest Cannaiolo 'Il Merlano'.
