Les Crêtes

History

Les Crêtes, at Aymavilles just west of Aosta, was founded in 1989 by Costantino Charrère and has become one of the reference estates of the Valle d'Aosta — Italy's smallest wine region. The Charrère family has deep roots in the valley's farming history, and Les Crêtes helped raise the profile of high-altitude Alpine wine.

The estate farms steep terraces on the valley floor and slopes, working both international grapes suited to the mountains and the region's natives. It is especially celebrated for its barrel-fermented Chardonnay 'Cuvée Bois', a benchmark Italian mountain Chardonnay.

Alongside the Chardonnay, Les Crêtes makes the aromatic white Petite Arvine, the native red Fumin, the Petit Rouge-based Torrette and other Valle d'Aosta bottlings — all under the region's single umbrella DOC.
