History
Giulio Ferrari founded the house in 1902 with the ambition of making a Trentino sparkling wine by the metodo classico that could rival the best of Champagne, and was among the first to plant Chardonnay extensively in Italy. Having no direct heir, he sold the winery in 1952 to Trento wine merchant Bruno Lunelli, whose family has expanded it into the benchmark producer of Trentodoc while keeping the traditional-method, mountain-grown style. The prestige cuvée Giulio Ferrari Riserva del Fondatore honours the founder.
