History

Damiano Ciolli led the rebirth of Cesanese at Olevano Romano. Taking over the family's bulk-wine estate in 2001, he saw the potential of the indigenous Cesanese and turned to expressive, terroir-driven, low-intervention reds. His Silene, named for a wildflower, is the estate red, while the top Cirsium comes from his grandfather's 1953 Cesanese di Affile vineyard; together they are benchmarks for Cesanese di Olevano Romano.
