History

The Jermann estate dates to 1881, when Anton Jermann settled at Villanova di Farra d'Isonzo. From the early 1970s his descendant Silvio Jermann turned it into one of Italy's most celebrated white-wine houses. In 1973 he began working a 16-hectare old vineyard he named Tunina, and in 1975 released Vintage Tunina, a field blend of Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Malvasia Istriana, Ribolla Gialla and Picolit that proved northeastern Italy could make age-worthy whites of international stature. The wines are bottled under Venezia Giulia IGT and Collio.
