History
I Dof Mati (Piedmontese dialect for 'the mad ones') was founded in 2016 by Sara Paladini and Valentina Cometto in Fara Novarese, in Alto Piemonte. In 2019 they took over a long semi-abandoned cellar in the village and restored it, along with an old Nebbiolo vineyard originally planted by architect Alessandro Antonelli, designer of Turin's Mole Antonelliana.
The roughly 5 hectares of vines are split between Ghemme and Sizzano; the estate labels its wines with chess-piece names, including the Ghemme DOCG 'Il Matto' and a Vespolina called 'Bona'.
