History

Stefano Mancinelli is regarded as the father of modern Lacrima di Morro d'Alba. In the early 1980s he saw the potential of a nearly extinct local red, intensely floral and perfumed, and was an influential force behind its elevation to DOC in 1985. From his winery, founded in 1978 at Morro d'Alba, he remains a benchmark for the grape, which has barely left its home province of Ancona.
