History
Tenuta Cocci Grifoni is the estate that saved Pecorino. Founded in 1933 in the Piceno hills, it was the first to bottle a Rosso Piceno Superiore, in 1969, but its greatest legacy is Guido Cocci Grifoni's rescue of the near-extinct Pecorino grape: in 1982 he found old vines at Arquata del Tronto, propagated them, and shared cuttings with neighbours, planting the 1987 mother vineyard that seeded the modern Offida Pecorino.
