History
The estate takes its name ("li Monaci", the monks) from a Franciscan monastery that stood on the property for centuries, with ruins still visible near the farm buildings.
The original land belonged to the Murdaca family since the early 1800s, once part of a much larger holding of more than 160 hectares that was subdivided over two centuries. Anthony Reale, a Calabrian-born entrepreneur who spent decades in Canada before returning to his native region, now runs the estate, growing Gaglioppo, Greco Nero, Magliocco and Calabrese alongside Cabernet and Sauvignon Blanc.
