History

Fongaro is the pioneer of traditional-method Lessini Durello. Founded in 1975 by Guerrino Fongaro on the volcanic soils of the Lessini mountains east of Verona, the estate bet everything on the local Durella, a high-acid native grape long overlooked. From 1985 it focused solely on metodo classico sparkling wine, ageing its Durello on the lees for years, and remains the benchmark for this sharp, mineral alternative to Prosecco.
