History
Andrea Franchetti acquired a wild property near Sarteano in the 1980s and from 1990 planted a Bordeaux-inspired, high-density vineyard on soils that reminded him of Saint-Émilion. Tenuta di Trinoro, and its Cabernet Franc-led flagship, became one of Italy's most singular reds; Franchetti, who also founded Passopisciaro on Etna, died in 2021 and the estate continues under his family.
