History
Le Macchiole is one of Bolgheri's most daring estates. Eugenio Campolmi and Cinzia Merli founded it in 1983 and released Paleo Rosso in 1989, later turning it into a pioneering pure Cabernet Franc. In 1994 they added Messorio, a Merlot that became one of Italy's most acclaimed wines, and Scrio, a Syrah. Bottled as Toscana IGT, these single-variety wines made Le Macchiole a Super Tuscan legend.
