History
The Manetti family, terracotta makers at Ferrone for centuries, bought the Fontodi estate in Panzano's Conca d'Oro in 1968. Giovanni Manetti joined in 1979 and made the estate a standard-bearer for pure Sangiovese in Chianti Classico, farming organically and steadily raising the share of Sangiovese in the wines. Since 1981 the estate's Flaccianello della Pieve has been made entirely from Sangiovese and has become one of Tuscany's most celebrated bottles.
