History
Castellare di Castellina was created in the 1970s by publisher Paolo Panerai from four estates at Castellina in Chianti. A 1979 vine census and clonal work sharpened its Sangioveto; the estate is famous for its bird labels, marking a chemical-free, hunting-free refuge, and for I Sodi di San Niccolò, a Sangiovese-Malvasia Nera cru named by Luigi Veronelli and first made in 1977.
