History
Passopisciaro was a catalyst of the Etna revival. In 2000 Andrea Franchetti restored old terraced vineyards on the volcano's north slope and, from 2008, bottled Nerello Mascalese from individual contrade, C, P, G, S, R, helping establish Etna's cru system. His single-contrada reds and the Chardonnay Passobianco, all Terre Siciliane IGT, are references for the mineral, high-altitude style of the mountain.
