History
Salvo Foti, an Etna oenologist since 1981, revived I Vigneri in 2001, taking the name from the Maestranza dei Vigneri, a vine-workers' guild documented in 1435. Devoted to traditional alberello viticulture and to what he calls 'human wines', he works old vines by hand; his Vinupetra, from century-old vines, is a benchmark of traditional Etna Rosso.
