History
Sella & Mosca was founded in 1899 by two young Piedmontese, the engineer Erminio Sella and the lawyer Edgardo Mosca, who reclaimed the plain north of Alghero and first ran it as a phylloxera-resistant rootstock nursery. It grew into a benchmark producer of Sardinian wine on a grand estate at 'i Piani', and is the sole commercial champion of Torbato, a white grape it saved from near extinction. Its Alghero wines include the Cabernet Marchese di Villamarina and the Torbato Terre Bianche.
