History
Cantine Sardus Pater was founded on Sant'Antioco island in 1949 as a growers' cooperative, beginning production in 1955, its name taken from the Sardus Pater deity struck on ancient Sulcis coins.
Drawing on some 200 members and 300 hectares, it built its reputation on Carignano del Sulcis from old sandy-soil bush vines, adding Vermentino, Nasco, Monica and Cannonau over the years.
