History
The Cantele family's roots in Puglian wine trace to Giovanni Battista Cantele and his wife Teresa Manara, travelling wine agents who settled in Salento; the estate as it stands was founded in 1979 and is now run by the second and third generations of the family. Cantele helped modernise Salento winemaking, and its flagship Amativo, a blend of Primitivo and Negroamaro, became one of the appellation's signature bottles.
