History
La Scolca is the house that made Gavi famous. Founded in 1919 when the Soldati family bought a former hunting estate at Gavi, it staked everything on the local white grape Cortese, saving it from obscurity and pioneering modern cool, stainless-steel vinification to preserve its delicacy. Its Black Label 'Gavi dei Gavi', from the oldest vines, is the benchmark of the appellation and one of Italy's most recognisable white wines.
