History
Cantina del Vulture, at Contrada San Francesco in Rionero in Vulture, was the first cooperative winery founded in the Aglianico del Vulture zone, established in 1954 on the volcanic slopes of Monte Vulture.
It draws Aglianico from around a hundred hectares farmed by some forty member growers and makes about 200,000 bottles a year, working with traditional late harvests and long macerations across a range that spans the Aglianico del Vulture DOC, the Superiore DOCG and Basilicata IGT, including its 'Michelangelo' and 'Rivonero' labels.
